Ross then practised primarily in Common Law and Workers Compensation jurisdictions until returning to practice as a solicitor with Ellison Tillyard Callanan between 2008 and 2010. In 2010 Ross returned to practice as a barrister and since then has continued to act in Common Law and Workers Compensation matters for both claimants and insurers. He has appeared in a number of key appellate cases on the interpretation of workers compensation legislation.

From 2013 to 2014 Ross worked as a sessional arbitrator for the NSW Workers Compensation Commission (now Personal Injury Commission of NSW).
